In less than half a year, the first-ever international Hakka event, the 31st World Hakka Conference, will be underway in the City of Markham, Ontario. Thousands of Hakkas from the GTA, across the country, and other countries will gather in Markham for a biennial reunion and exchanges. It is one of the most influential events for Chinese people in the world.
To celebrate the WHC and the upcoming Chinese New Year, the Hakka motherland, Shanghang County in the Province of Fujian, China, is producing a virtual Spring Festival special Hakka culture and music performance. Programs include dance, singing, symphony, monologue and puppet show. The show will be broadcasted live on Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, WeChat and other social media.
