The Year of the Tiger has arrived. The Organizing Committee of the 31st World Hakka Conference sends their warm greetings to all Hakkas around the world, wishing them a healthy, happy, safe, and prosperous year ahead.
The WHC Spring Festival Show, produced in collaboration with the Shanghang Hakka Association of North America (SHANA) and the Shanghang Government, China, was held on January 15 and broadcasted on January 28, 2022. It was a huge success with close to 80,000 people watching the online show live on different social media platforms.
In about 4 months of time, the first-ever international Hakka event in Canada, the 31st World Hakka Conference, will take place in the City of Markham, Ontario. Thousands of Hakkas from the GTA, across the country, and other countries will gather in Markham for a biennial reunion and exchanges. It is one of the most influential events for Chinese people in the world.
The Shanghang County in China’s Province of Fujian is the Hakka motherland. Thanks to the help and coordination by the SHANA, WHC can host the special virtual Hakka culture and music performance to celebrate the Spring Festival with the world Hakka people. Programs in the show include dance, singing, symphony, monologue, and puppet show. The show was broadcasted live on Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, WeChat, and other social media, attracting a total of audience close to 80,000.
